AES Encryption

Encrypt and decrypt text with a password (AES-256-GCM), in your browser

Enter a password.
The encryption is only as strong as the password: anyone holding the text can try passwords offline, as many as they like. Without it, the text can't be recovered.
Format
Cipher
AES-256-GCM, its 16-byte tag detecting a wrong password or a changed text
Key
PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA-256 of the password (UTF-8), 600,000 iterations, a random 16-byte salt
Output
Base64 of the salt (16 bytes), the IV (12 bytes, random), then the ciphertext and its tag
Everything runs in your browser (Web Crypto): neither the text nor the password leaves this page. To decrypt elsewhere, split the decoded bytes the same way.
