Sound Level Meter

Measure noise in decibels with your microphone: A, C or Z weighting, Leq, max and peak, your daily noise dose, and a night log of each loud sound with its recording

Noise log
dB(A)
Between 0 and 140 dB.
Leave the page open, through a night for instance: each sound over the threshold is listed with its time, length and level. Download gives a ZIP of the report, the levels second by second and the recordings. It all stays in this page: closing it loses the log.

No sound over the threshold yet.

Full dose at this level in
NIOSH's limit: 85 dB(A) for 8 hours a day, half as long for every 3 dB more (91 dB(A): 2 hours, 100 dB(A): 15 minutes). Counted in dB(A), Slow, over what this page measured; levels under 80 dB(A) don't count.
Calibration

A browser only gets the microphone's level relative to the loudest it can take, not decibels. Until it is calibrated, this page assumes a typical phone microphone: each one differs, by 10 dB or more.

dB(A)
Put this device next to a calibrated meter, both on Slow and the same weighting, make a steady sound (a fan, a running tap), measure here, then type the meter's reading.
dB
Added to every level, past ones too, and kept in this browser for this microphone. It holds while the system's input volume stays the same.
